Remembering

Today is the seven year mark of September 11.

When I woke up this morning the first thing I saw was the ceremony honoring those that lost their lives at the Pentagon. Of course, like any college student, I left my TV on CNN all night!

President Bush's speech nearly brought me to tears. While I have always expressed my opinions as being mostly liberal, on a day like today it feels like the country is united once again.

I remember where I was that day. I was a freshman in high school and was eating lunch when my friend Sarah came up and told us all that there was a terrorist attack. Being a freshman in high school, I was like whatever and continued to eat my Bosco sticks. When I got home and was able to watch television, I couldn't take my eyes off of the TV. Since that day, I've been addicted to 24-hour news. I've also made sure that I follow politics now so that I can voice what I feel is the right thing to do and also show that I am proud to be an American and will use the resources that my wonderful country affords me.

On that note, of course my TV is still on CNN because Sen. Obama is speaking about service to the country. I don't feel that service is only service in the military, which I commend John Mcain's service, I also feel that service to your own country is important, such as Obama's community service.

I feel I can't give my full attention to this however, because I'm trying to listen. I love this man's ideas and feel that he truly is the best candidate for change in a country that so desperately needs it.
